Every Good Plan Starts in the Group Chat

Some of the best organizing happens nowhere near a campaign office, it happens in the group chat you already have going with your people. This template is built around that reality.

What's in the template

Slide one sets the scene with a familiar exchange: "yo are we still on for nov 3?", "whos driving lol", "pick yall up at 2 LET'S GOOOOOO." It's not a designed announcement, it's a screenshot of exactly the kind of texts that actually get people to show up together.

Slide two delivers the turn: "wait it's a VOTING plan??" followed by "AND pizza after, it's gonna be good." The joke does double duty, it disarms any awkwardness around bringing up voting in a casual thread, and it reframes Election Day as something social and low-stakes rather than a chore. The slide closes with space for your voter registration deadline and your group's name.

How to customize it for your group

  • The date, swapped in for "nov 3" to match your actual election.

  • Voter registration deadline and info, filled into the banner on slide two, this is the one piece of real information the template needs to actually be useful, not just funny.

  • The "pizza after" line, if you want, swap in whatever your group's version of a payoff is, coffee, donuts, a watch party, anything that makes showing up feel like hanging out rather than an obligation.

The format works because it borrows credibility from something everyone already trusts: a text from a friend. A polished graphic asking people to vote reads as an announcement. A screenshot of a group chat reads as an invitation.

Use this as a starting point, then make it sound like your own group chat.

This is exactly how it starts in our group chat, and it's exactly how it should end: at the polls. Text your people, make the plan, and don't forget the pizza after. Registration deadline is [date], make sure everyone in your crew is squared away before then. #BringYourPeopleToThePolls #[YourLocalGroup] #Vote[YourState] #[YourCity]
